Grey matter is the major component of the central nervous system. It consists of neuronal cell bodies, neuropil, capillaries and glical cells. Grey matter mainly consists of neural cell bodies, incontrast with white matter which consists of myelinated axon tracts. The color difference arise mainly whiteness of myelin. But actually gery matter
has a brownish grey color which comes from neuronal cell bodies and capillary blood vessels. Grey matter is distributed at the surface of the cerebral hemisphere and of cerebellum, as well as in the depths of cerebrum, cerebellum and spinal grey matter.
