Optimal Answer Sheets or OMR sheet is a special type of form used in multiple choice question examination.OMR sheets generally have a set of blank boxes or ovals that corresponds to each question, bar codes process the sheets for automatic processing. Each oval filled will return a certain value when read, with which ability of the student can be tested.

device that shines a beam of light onto the form paper. One of the most familiar applications of optimal mark recognition is the use of #2 (HB) pencil bubble to mark the answer and the student information by darkening the circles marked on a pre-printed sheets. Afterwards the sheet is automatically graded by the schanning machine.
